Update
Joseph C. DeSilva, the traveling salesman charged with stealing from his company before fleeing the area, on Wednesday had his case continued to July 21 for a pre-trial conference.
DeSilva, 52, of 301 Bulgarmarsh Road, a married father, is charged with one count of larceny greater than $250.
He remains held on $50,000 bail at the Worcester House of Corrections in West Boylston. He’s being represented by New Bedford attorney Joseph Harrington Jr., court officials said.
Northbridge police charged him with “siphoning over $75,000” from Core-Mark International Inc., Northbridge, for more than a year.
DeSilva drew headlines in early March when town police reported him missing after his family said he never returned or telephoned home. Police reported he made a sales stop at Peter’s Package Store on Rodman Street in Fall River the last day he was seen.
Nearly three months later, DeSilva turned himself in to town police. Authorities confirmed that a couple of weeks after he disappeared, he paid a speeding ticket to the town with a Savanah, Ga., postmark.
Authorities also found Core-Mark’s 2003 Ford Taurus DeSilva had been driving parked in a Fall River municipal lot next to the bus terminal the day he turned himself in.
As a result of a warrant for his arrest, police also discovered a 1995 larceny charge against DeSilva, alleging he stole $6,000 from a New Bedford tobacco company.
