In light of the fact that the “scene of the world is changing” so rapidly,
the mature Christian uses his resources in a proper way so as to aid in
his understanding, and help ascertain where we are in the stream
of time, and thereby assists him to “Keep on the watch”.
“The Scene of This World Is Changing”
In recent years, politicians have often used the phrase “peace and security” to describe various human schemes. They even dubbed 1986 the International Year of Peace, although that year did not live up to its name! Do such efforts by world leaders constitute the complete fulfillment of 1 Thessalonians 5:3, or was Paul referring to a specific event of such dramatic proportions as to claim world attention? Since Bible prophecies are often fully understood only after they are fulfilled or are in the process of fulfillment, we will have to wait and see…
When Paul made that statement, he was comparing the world to a stage. The performers on that stage—political, religious, and cultural icons—make their appearance, play their respective roles, and then leave the stage to others. This has gone on for centuries. In times past, a dynasty might rule for decades—even centuries—and changes were slow. Not so today, when the course of history can shift in the time it takes for an assassin’s bullet to find its mark! Yes, in these turbulent times, we do not know what tomorrow will bring.
If the world is a stage and its leaders are the performers, then Christians are the spectators. Being “no part of the world,” however, they do not overly concern themselves with the performance or even the identity of the players. (John 17:16) Rather, they are eagerly looking for indications that the drama is reaching its climax—a catastrophic finish—for they know that this system must end before Jehovah ushers in the long-awaited new world of righteousness.

Aware that his end is approaching, Satan since 1914 has been stepping up his efforts to mislead “the entire inhabited earth.” Always the master deceiver, Satan works behind the scenes, putting on the stage the world’s leaders and trendsetters as role players. (2 Timothy 3:13; 1 John 5:19) One of his goals is to deceive mankind into thinking that his way of governing can bring them true peace. By and large, his propaganda has succeeded, for people remain optimistic in spite of mounting evidence that conditions are going from bad to worse. The apostle Paul foretold that just before this system of things is destroyed, there will be a notable expression of satanic propaganda. He wrote: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman.”—1 Thessalonians 5:3; Revelation 16:13.

It is of interest, though, that Paul compared the sudden destruction following the cry of “Peace and security!” to the birth pang of a pregnant woman. Over a period of about nine months, an expectant mother becomes increasingly aware of the baby that is growing within her. She may be able to hear her baby’s heartbeat or feel its movements in the womb. It may even kick her. The signs often become more and more pronounced until, one day, she feels a sharp pain, a pang, indicating that the hoped-for event—the baby’s birth—has arrived. Hence, however the prophesied cry of “Peace and security!” may be fulfilled, it will lead to a sudden, painful, but ultimately blessed event—the destruction of wickedness and the beginning of a new world system.

Could this be similar to “the disgusting thing standing in a holy place”, since Israel is considered a “holy place” to so many false religions? Or would it be on a bigger scale? I’m interested in any comments on this subject. I don’t mean to speculate, just want to keep on the watch.
(CNN) — A militant Islamist group associated with al Qaeda has for the first time threatened to attack Israel, far from its normal base of operations in Somalia.
Al-Shabab, which is fighting to control the east African country, accused Israel of “starting to destroy” the Al Aqsa mosque, where standoffs have taken place recently between Israeli police and Palestinians. The mosque is part of the complex that Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims call Haram al-Sharif.
“The Jews started to destroy parts of the holy mosque of Al Aqsa and they routinely kill our Palestinian brothers, so we are committed to defend our Palestinian brothers,” said Mukhtar Robow Abu Mansur, a prominent Al-Shabab commander.
His threat was part of a series of fiery sermons delivered after Friday prayers in Baidoa in southwest Somalia. Al-Shabab controls the region, which is part of a country that has been without an effective national government for nearly 20 years.
Other leaders of the group also threatened Israel, the first time the group is known to have done so.
“We will transfer and expand our fighting in the Middle East so we can defend Al Aqsa mosque from the Israelis,” Al-Shabab commander Abdifatah Aweys Abu Hamza said in Mogadishu, the Somali capital.
He is apparently the leader of a new Al-Shabab armed group calling themselves “Mujahedin Al Aqsa,” or “Al Aqsa Holy Warriors,” which they said is assigned to attack Israel.
It is not clear whether Al-Shabab has the capacity to carry out its threats against Israel.
But Rashid Abdi of the International Crisis Group warned that the group should be taken seriously.
“We should not underestimate the capacity of Al-Shabab,” he said. “This is a deadly organization, a formidable foe.”
Abdi said the group had been mutating from a nationalist group into a terrorist organization more like al Qaeda, which was behind the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.
“If you look at the rhetoric and language and if you look at the Web sites, if you hear their preachers or their scholars speak, it is completely indistinguishable from al Qaeda leaders,” Abdi said.
The group has also become more vicious in Somalia, a local human rights expert said.
“The most gruesome and gross violations of human rights are committed by Al-Shabab,” activist Hassan Shire Sheikh said. “They have also instilled fear. They just shoot, they kill, they maim and they lash.”
The group also threatened African neighbors on Friday, including Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Eritrea, Ghana, Sudan and Uganda. They have in the past threatened African nations that provide peacekeeping troops to the war-torn country.
The U.S. State Department Country Reports on Terrorism from April lists Al-Shabab as a terrorist organization and blames it for shootings and suicide bombings inside Somalia. It does not list the group as having carried out violence outside Somalia, but says some members of the group have trained and fought alongside al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Somalia has been mired in chaos since 1991, when warlords overthrew dictator Mohamed Siad Barre and sparked brutal clan infighting.
The transitional government has struggled to establish authority, challenged by Islamist groups like Al-Shabab that have seized control of Mogadishu and much of the south.
In 70, “a holy place” was, of course, apostate Jerusalem, it stands to reason that it would, once again, consist of a holy place that Jehovah considers to be apostate, and not just any holy place…like Mecca, or the temple site, or any other. While your alert is interesting to say the least, and most likely significant for other reasons, we should probably keep one eye on Christendom, especially the apostate “church”.

for the U.S. it states in part:
“sizeable increase in the number of Bible studies conducted in the U.S. during June. The total of 657,043 Bible studies conducted is an increase of 46,403 over the same month last year. The figure of 650,000 Bible studies has been surpassed every month this year”!
I’m curious what the growth is in other countries…..

Church of Scientology Found Guilty of Fraud in France (Is the beast starting to turn on the harlot?) – from Yahoo News
PARIS – A Paris court convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than euro600,000 ($900,000) on Tuesday, but stopped short of banning the group’s activities.
The group’s French branch said it would appeal the verdict.
The court convicted the Church of Scientology’s French office, its library and six of its leaders of organized fraud. Investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used “commercial harassment” against recruits.
The group was fined euro400,000 ($600,000) and the library euro200,000. Four of the leaders were given suspended sentences of between 10 months and two years. The other two were given fines of euro1,000 and euro2,000.
Prosecutors had urged that the group be disbanded in France and fined euro2 million. A law that was briefly on the books this year prevented the court from going so far as to disband the French branch of Scientology in Tuesday’s verdict — though it could have taken the lesser step of shutting down its operations.
However, the court did not do so, ruling that French Scientologists would have continued their activities anyway “outside any legal framework.”
A spokeswoman for the French branch of Scientology, Agnes Bron, said the verdict was “an Inquisition of modern times,” a reference to efforts to rout out heretics of the Roman Catholic Church in centuries past.
“It’s really all bark and no bite,” said the spokesman of the Church of Scientology International, Tommy Davis. “The church will emerge victorious on appeal.”
Speaking by telephone from New York, Davis said the Church of Scientology was prepared to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
The head of a French association that helps victims of sects called the verdict “intelligent.”
“Scientology can no longer hide behind freedom of conscience,” Catherine Picard said.
The Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology, founded in 1954 by the late science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, has been active for decades in Europe, but has struggled to gain status as a religion. It is considered a sect in France and has faced prosecution and difficulties in registering its activities in many countries.
Defense lawyer Patrick Maisonneuve said during the trial that neither the Church of Scientology nor the six leaders on trial had gained financially from the group’s practices.
The original complaint in the case dates back more than a decade, when a young woman said she took out loans and spent the equivalent of euro21,000 on books, courses and “purification packages” after being recruited in 1998. When she sought reimbursement and to leave the group, its leadership refused. She was among three eventual plaintiffs.
Olivier Morice, lawyer for civil parties in the case, said the verdict was “historic” because it was the first time in France that the Church of Scientology has been convicted of organized fraud.
Investigating Judge Jean-Christophe Hullin spent years examining the group’s activities, and in his indictment criticized what he called the Scientologists’ “obsession” with financial gain and practices he said were aimed at plunging members into a “state of subjection.”
The Church of Scientology teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems. It claims 10 million members around the world, including celebrity devotees Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Belgium, Germany and other European countries have been criticized by the U.S. State Department for labeling Scientology as a cult or sect and enacting laws to restrict its operations.___

I was raised in the truth till I was 10, After that my mother seperated from my dad.(She left him because she let a unbelieving relative pursuade her that she could have a more happier life without him )WE left the truth we no longer attended meeting or went out in service. throught the 10 years I was out of the truth I never forgot what I learned when I was younger I recall sleeping durning meeting and telling my mom can I stay home with my dad (I deeply regreted not paying more attention to what was said durning the meeting )but the little I learnt stayed with me. Throughout the eight years we traveled we moved about 10 times. it was a difficult time for my family and me. I seen personally what this world offers pain and sadness. Durning that time the only relgion that were calling, knocking on our doors and finding us no matter how far out we were and worried about me spiriualy were Jehovah Witnesses.
I had 8 differant people study with me I think I can quote the require brochure by heart that how many study I had. What changed me completly was Sept 11. Im now baptized and my mom is reinstated. So the point is dont give up on them please world event can change people lives they need Jehovah right now we all do its scary out there in the world. I promise myself and to Jehovah to show love to all. By Preaching its the only way ones are going to have the oppertunity to learn about Jehovah in these last day.
It’s nice to hear about your earlier experience, Becky. Thankyou for sharing it. This is what touches me the most w/regards to our great God, Jehovah. We may have had some expereince w/witnesses in our early years, but our circumstances got in the way until we were older. I too, learned about Jehovah when I was young, but the circumstances of my life made if difficult to make a dedication until after I was grown, married and w/a family. But, Jehovah was always in my heart….if I would get up in the middle of the night, Jehovah was there. If I went outside and hear the wind blowing through the trees, Jehovah was there. I was someone who let fear of man control my life. I didn’t want to displease my husband. Yet, I desired to be pleasing to Jehovah God. It wasn’t easy in the beginning, but I’m so happy now. Jehovah sees our heart and he draws us to him. This I know to be true, because all my life I have seen and felt Jehovah everywhere I go. I am humbled and so deeply grateful that he held out his hand to help me w/each and every step. There are so many stories similar to ours, Becky. I agree with your encouragement to never give up on those we talk to, whether in the ministry, informal, and especially, family members that we love so much. May we always show our thankfulness by doing all we can to help others to come to know and serve the only true God, Jehovah. :)
If we shared w/them Jer. 10:23 and explained to them that they will never get peace on earth this way, would they listen? If we told them that man was NEVER meant to direct his step w/out looking to Jehovah for direction would they believe it? God’s Word clearly tells us that “it DOESN’T BELONG TO MAN who is walking even to direct his step.” It doesn’t belong to man, because it belongs to God. If they could get the sense of that, then they would see how futile it is to strive for peace w/out looking to Jehovah for his direction and then waiting patiently on his kingdom to bring it.
Nice, Karen. When I clicked to play this video, I was taken to the YouTube Channel. I tried to leave a comment there but I was not a member, and after several attempts to join (which didn’t work) I got called away. However, they need to be told the scripture at Jeremiah 29:11,12:
11. “‘For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward YOU,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give YOU a future and a hope. 12. And YOU will certainly call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to YOU.’
Jehovah IS bringing PEACE to this earth, but not through these channels. Jehovah’s people today (Jehovah’s Witnesses)are eagerly awaiting his promise of peace on a paradise earth, which will come about by means of the Messianic Kingdom! These people should consider the quoted scripture carefully. Are they calling on the name of God, Jehovah? Are they coming to HIM? Are they praying to HIM? Verse 12 says that that is WHEN He will “listen” to them! Only then! Amen!
That message is very important indeed Sandra, for it means life to those who heed it. We know that there will not be a mass conversion, but we do know that as long as Jehovah allows, we must share the good news of his kingdom to all who will listen. There is a sense of urgency, let us all be doing our utmost to share the true message of peace.
No….they wouldn’t listen. People want PEACE on their own terms. Remember what Jesus said:
“Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and MANY are the ones going in through it;whereas narrow is the gate and CRAMPED the road leading off into life, and FEW are the ones finding it.”
Besides, this cry of “peace and security” was prophesied nearly 2,000 years ago….and “what he foretells proves to be”. :)
This is all true, Robin. It’s just sad to see people who want a change in all the bad they see in the world, to not look to the true source of peace and security. While there is still time, maybe there will be some that can be reached by the witness we give. Let’s hope so, for their sake.

but one thing i loved about preaching now more than ever, is beside that our work is near its finish, most people from house to house work would care to know the answer from the presented questions in our ‘bible teach’ book. yes, they like to know the truth. and my bible studies are increasing monthly. i just wished i didnt stop my full time pioneering and just got back now in view of the urgency of our work.
Hello, Prime Harvey … nice to meet you. I just wanted to share with you and the Friends an experience I had in the door-to-door ministry early Wednesday morning. A group of us was doing a territory where it was practically all not-at-homes. Finally, I got an answer from a young lady (probably around 30 years old). After a brief intro regarding suffering, injustice, and lack of peace in the world, I asked her if she thought that this what God wanted for us, and then I opened my Bible and said, “I’d like to read you a Scripture that shows what God wants for us … it’s at Jeremiah 29:11.”
Then, the lady householder said, “Is that the one that says “I want peace, not calamity, and a future and a hope?” She then quoted the whole Scripture!!! Well, I was SHOCKED! (How many young people do you know that can quote that scripture???) My first thought was that she must be a JW … but no, she wasn’t. Anyway, I offered her the BIBLE TEACH book and started a Bible Study with her at the door. It was so refreshing. I cannot wait to go back again! But I must say it was certainly an interesting (and unexpected) experience! (hehehe)

Thank you for this comment, Robin. It reminds me of a talk at our district convention this summer regarding Satan’s traps. Five traps were mentioned, and one of the five was “the snare.” The brother giving the talk equated the snare with PEER PRESSURE. He said:
Peer pressure is a snare. Pontius Pilate gave in to the snare of peer pressure. He had an innocent man (Christ Jesus) put to death rather than go against the will of the crowds. Peter also got caught in a snare; three times he denied being with Jesus, and at the end he lied (Luke 23:23). “Trembling at men is what lays a snare, but trusting in Jehovah gives protection” (Prov. 29:25).

“Nothing in this legislation diminishes an American’s freedom of religion, freedom of speech or press or the freedom to assemble,” said Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md. “Let me be clear. The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act targets acts, not speech.”
That didn’t convince Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., who said the bill was a “dangerous step” toward thought crimes. He asked whether the bill would “serve as a warning to people not to speak out too loudly about their religious views.”
Well, there’s the press release/sanitized/summery version that the lawmakers on capitol hill read, and there’s the “final bill” amended by staffers under the radar at the 11th hour just before it’s submitted to the President for approval. This final version will most likely contain, hidden in the recesses of 25,000 pages of intentional gobbldy-gook, the REAL intent of this legislation…wait and see…
I agree. Micah 3:11a says: “Her own head ones judge merely for a bribe, and her own priests instruct just for a price, and her own prophets practice divination simply for money”…sound familiar? Who has the ear of government, but the lobbyists, those who can pay the price to be heard. They devise law by mischief, so yes, man-made laws can change at the drop of a hat, to suit THEIR needs, not the peoples. And yet, people wonder why we are neutral in political affairs…we know that putting ALL our faith in God’s kingdom and supporting it alone will bring true peace and happiness to all those who do.

While our individual tribulations are stressful, and we are coming upon the final few seconds of this system of things, I REALIZED that anything we go through right now is temporary.It is moment in time compared to the possibility of everlasting life. Can you imagine someone asking you “how old are you?” And you answer them saying “I am 3 cosmic years old” A cosmic year is equal to 225 million years.
We all have the chance to live forever…..Just think about that. Think about how much closer we will become to Jehovah in knowledge.
So right now, things may be uncomfortable for most of us, but what lays ahead of us is a glorious bright future…..if we endure this temporary distressful moment in time.
You all will be in my prayers tonight. With warm agape love…your brother in the faith. mark.

You know what Mark, you hit the nail on the head “distressful times”. I don’t know about you, but the “intensity level” seems to be climbing as of late and Jehovah WILL soon provide relief…..we should all mention one another in our prayers to the “the Father of tender mercies”.
(2 Corinthians 1:3-4) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God.

What surprises me is that I have never heard any news of this march for peace on any of the network news, news shows or programs. The only way I know about it at all is from JWN alerting us to this event. Yes, if you go on the site, you get the information, but I find it odd that there has been no news coverage of the event.

We should not adopt this attitude to ourselves, either, always saying “I’m not doing enough in Jehovah’s service”.

i like it too, i also enjoyed reading the text and comments from 30th sept this year based on Ps. 55:22. our dear brothers are so up to date and they imitate jehovah’s love abundantly, it is like jehovah uses them to say dont worry about anyone else, i know what you are going through, i know what your best is, and i love you and care for you! just remembering as long as we please jehovah, in all things and do our up most to serve him faithfully, no body else’s opinion matters! i have been real ill recently with depression, and high anxiety even tried to commit suicide, (dumb i know!!) and one kind bro and sister said that because i was not getting to the meetings they did not want to have me as a friend because i would be a bad associate for there kids, they did not see i was unwell they just thought i was unwilling to go to the meetings, however, when i came out of hospital the love i was shown by others in the congregation showed me that i cant expect people to say the right thing all the time, but when there is a problem our brothers and sisters are always there at the right time, we are imperfect people in a perfect organisation, and even though we can get on each others nerves some times, we need eachother just as jehovah design us to. col 3 v 13 ,

When people do not know depression, they think that a act of will, and self control, will make you come out of it.
They don,t know, that it is not like that.(and I know that, because that is how I used to think.)
As you say it is only Jehovah’s opinion that matters.
I like this point in the comment on the daily scripture of Thurs October 1 09,
“It may appear that others do not truly understand our situation – and perhaps they do not.”
When I am up to it I try to explain what depression is, so they can be informed about wrong ideas.

I heard that the next year text are parts of 1 Corinthians 13:6,7. And they had a talk about the Generation of Matthew 24th chpt. Basically they said that the Gereration will overlap into the great tribulation. There should be an article on this down the line.

I mention today’s events because if you do research in Watchtower 2008 library cd, and type in peace and security; You will come up with alot of study articles concerning this subject. One Mankind’s biggest fear and threat is unsafe nuclear use through weapons. This rogue state “iran” was suppose to be using hidden nuclear sites for a weapons program, now they turn around say, “come and inspect, our sites, and we all must disarm weapons of mass destruction. Now this is not to say that today’s events will be the sign “WE” are for looking, where there is a “worldwide” claim of peace and security. But it does look interesting, when in March of 2009, the president of the usa stated ” He wanted a world without nuclear weapons, for there to be peace and security”. Just something to think about.

Did anybody catch the P5+1 talks with Iran today? It is amazing to see how things can change so quickly over night. Meaning the “west” was determined to apply sanctions and penitilies (sp) on iran base on its nuclear ambition. Now all of sudden, this rogue state is declaring that ALL nations must disarm their nuclear weapons in order to achieve “internationl peace and security”. And how now countries that were against iran achieving nuclear status are now on broad with helping them use it for peaceful purposes.(presstv.com)
While the phrase “peace and security” is strictly from satan, to mislead the world; we must keep on the watch as events unfold every second.
I’m not impatient…Kinda the opposite. Hoping it won’t come so soon, but scared and watching the signs. I’m a hypochondriac with severe anxiety, so for me the end is another cause of death, so I’m fearful not thinking I’m ready. So when reading this and seeing everyone describe closeness with what they’ve heard… I was kinda expecting the CO to say…something even a warning. But with not even a word about the end, it just confused me more. Not impatient…just deathly afraid. That’s another reason I want to know what they said on the SAD so badly, instead of waiting for our November one.

Ah, I too would view myself as impatient and I thought about this weekend what was the driving force behind that. For me, as I stated earlier, it was seeing my parents get older, though growing up, we had the hope that “millions now living will never die”. For myself as well, just sort of in a way, perhaps selfishly, looking for relief from the constant pressure of trying to make a living, anxiety over maintaining a job, roof over our heads, etc. And more broadly, when I look around my neighborhood, watch the news, etc, there is just so much suffering, and so I view it as mankind finally getting relief to live peacefully, in harmony, and knowing, via actual physical demonstration, Jehovah’s protection/love.
There are people I know personally, as well as through the net, that have become/are becoming agnostic due to the pressures of life/bad things occurring (mere oppression will make the wise one act crazy).
But I also know that in my unbaptized state, after having been an unbaptized publisher, there’s a high probability that I wouldn’t make it so I am thankful for the extra time, however, I’d gladly give it up if the end came today with the knowledge that my parents could pass right through it. I do think that partly, for me anyway, growing up, it always seemed right around the corner, so my expectations became a little too aggressive. So now, as the brother I study with says, I don’t think about it every day, but when it happens it happens (the old watched pot never boils analogy).
Did not want to make you feel bad. We all have our own problems, whatever you think and feel – Jehovah understands you very well! Dont be afraid…..

We just have to be patient, Hikaru. There is nothing to fear, when we love Jehovah and always do what is pleasing to him. Jesus said that in our time, “the conclusion of the system of things,” fear would cover the earth — people in general would be affected by a painful fear, dread or terror. But Christians are admonished to follow the principle stated at Isaiah 8:12: “The object of their fear you men must not fear.” Eccl. 12:13 states: “The conclusion of the matter, everything being heard is: Fear the true God (Jehovah) and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man.” This is a healthy, wholesome fear; we only fear displeasing Jehovah. So, when we are keeping his commandments (for Christians), we have nothing to fear . . . be happy. :)
Heeey,don’t be messin with Hikaru people….the brother just wants a little reassurance and up to date info. on the subject from the Society. The truth is Hikaru, with your condition,I don’t think anything you hear will make a difference sweetie. In this time of the end, it is IMPERATIVE that we pray with all constancy to the God who gives peace and calmness of heart and beg him for it. If you have to pray 10, 20, 30 times a day….DO IT! I’m telling you it works! Jehovah knows what you need before you even ask….so don’t make Him wait, ask!:)

I agree. Robin never question when your gut tells you.
I don’t take things like that lightly.I once bought wallpaper and later things didn’t seem right. Prayed and kept searching. Wallpaper wasn’t designs I thought I had purchased. It was tiny circles but closer inspection found it had in the circles crosses and gargoyles!!!
Off it came,couldn’t get it off fast enough.
Some of sheetrock came too! Steaming praying peeling at the same time…..

Back to the story…. while at the service meeting, the sister I mentioned (owner of icon art) met with the group! The first time I had seen her out during the week. So while the brother is talking I say a quick prayer that the brother would put her in my car group so that the opportunity to say something would come up. The brother says: sister 1 & 2 (me and pioneer partner) work with sisters 3 & 4, and 5 & 6. Brothers 1,2,3,4 work together. Sisters 7,8, work together. (long pause) sisters 9 & 10 (sister 10 has icon) do you have plans yet? No. Ok, will you work with sisters 1 & 2 and sisters 3 & 4 work with sisters 7&8? (logical thing to do would be to put 7,8,9,10 together) and sister 5, is there room for you and your 2 children to ride in the van with sister 1 & 2? No…I’ll follow them in my own car. ( and she takes sister nosey & talks too much #6 with her) :) What just happened! So off we went the four of us in a 7 seater van. I look in my book bag as we get in the car and guess what? An article I had printed out about 2 weeks ago “Worship God in Spirit, Icons as Art?” w027/1 pg. 7. Coincidence? I think not!
What’s the point? PRAYER IS POWERFUL…. avail yourself of it on every occasion…something we all can improve on i’m sure.
Today’s daily text is perfect for ALL of us. We are ALL imperfect and have “things” that we are dealing with. Here is the wonderful and loving thing….Jehovah knows what we are dealing with, and HE is ready to assist us, even carry our burden for us. He remembers the love YOU showed for HIS name and how you are living by HIS rightoues standards.
So even though, for the present our situation might seem like it is mountain in our way, Jehovah will make the mountain into a stepping stone for any of us, who ask HIM for his help.
We can not fully understand what each one of us, is personally going through, because each of us have different views and personalities that make us who we are, and we deal with things diffferently. So no one situation or circumstance will ever be the same, but Jehovah knows us better than we know our selves. Jehovah even knows how many hairs you have on your head. Jehovah is here and ready to help any of us.
Lastly, Jehovah IS NOT going to let you go beyond what you can bear.

Good morning Hikaru, I completely understand your impatience. How badly I wanted to this system to end so many years ago. How I wanted the wicked to pay for all their ungodly deeds.But ask yourself this…how many people came into the truth since 2001? How many more are coming into Jehovah’s ark like oragization even today? How many were baptized at your circuit assembly? Our impatience could broader on selfishness in a sense. Are we that self asborded (sp), that we don’t care care if anybody else dies, as long as we get what we want. Again I understand where you are coming from, things are happening so quickly on the world scene, that we can go to bed one night and wake up and be at the start of the Great Tribulation. None of us, will be totally ready when the Great Tribulation starts; now is the time to prepare by completely drawing close to Jehovah.
Do you get your October 15 2009 watchtower yet? Pages 29-31 has an excellent reminder for us, concerning our survival. (Read it). Including page 32. When we do reach that stage of the beginning of the Great Tribulation , we will get our instructions from the Governing body via our meetings. So keep attending the meetings and preparing for each meeting. Each meeting is a Armageddon survival training class.

7 ”And when they have finished their witnessing, the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss will make war with them and conquer them and kill them. 8 And their corpses will be on the broad way of the great city which is in a spiritual sense called Sod′om and Egypt, where their Lord was also impaled. 9 And those of the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their corpses for three and a half days, (and they do not let their corpses be laid in a tomb). 10 And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and enjoy themselves, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those dwelling on the earth.
11 And after the three and a half days spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet, and great fear fell upon those beholding them. 12 And they heard a loud voice out of heaven say to them: “Come on up here.” And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies beheld them. 13 And in that hour a great earthquake occurred, and a tenth of the city fell; and seven thousand persons were killed by the earthquake, and the rest became frightened and gave glory to the God of heaven.”

The Two Witnesses Are Killed
19 So severe was this plague on Christendom that after the two witnesses had prophesied for 42 months in sackcloth, Christendom used her worldly influence to have them ‘killed.’ 21 From 1914 to 1918 the nations were occupied with the first world war. Nationalistic feelings ran high, and in the spring of 1918, the religious enemies of the two witnesses took advantage of the situation. (They maneuvered the State’s legal apparatus so that responsible ministers of the Bible Students were imprisoned on false charges of sedition. Faithful coworkers were stunned. Kingdom activity almost ceased. It was as though the preaching work were dead.) In Bible times it was a terrible indignity not to be interred in a memorial tomb. Therefore, great reproach would attach to leaving the two witnesses unburied. In the hot Palestinian climate, a corpse in the open street would really start to smell after three and a half literal days. This detail in the prophecy thus indicates the shame that the two witnesses had to endure.
(Those mentioned above who were imprisoned were even denied bail while their cases were on appeal. They were exposed publicly long enough to become a stench to the inhabitants of “the great city.”
24 What a shock for those persecutors! The corpses of the two witnesses were suddenly alive and active again. It was a bitter pill for those clergymen to swallow, the more so since the Christian ministers whom they had schemed to put in prison were free again, later to be fully exonerated. The shock must have been even greater when, in September 1919, the Bible Students held a convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, U.S.A. Here J. F. Rutherford, recently released from prison, stirred conventioners with his talk “Announcing the Kingdom,” based on Revelation 15:2 and Isaiah 52:7. Those of the John class began once again to “prophesy,” or preach publicly. They advanced from strength to strength, fearlessly exposing Christendom’s hypocrisy.”
One day when I was trying to figure out how some of the prophecy’s “yet to be fulfilled” would manifest themselves… I thought to myself, “just look at the ones already fulfilled and compare”. So I thought of one of the scariest prophecy’s I could think of in Revelation, that had already been fulfilled (like the one above) to see how it played out or was manifested. As you can see, it’s nothing like it sounds!!! So now, I have adjusted my view as to how things might take place. I thought that was pretty cool. Kind of opens up a whole new way of looking at things :)

It’s also to helpful to see things from Jehovah’s point of view on the meaning of “sudden” and “instantly”.
To us, those words mean “right now” as soon as the words are uttered. Something tells me it may not be that way with the cry of peace and security. I have the talk “What The Near Future Holds” given in Sept. 2001, 2 or 3 weeks after 911 and the Bethel representative who gave the talk said regarding 1 thess 5:3
And I Quote:
“Up to this time we have heard calls for peace and security, we had it during Desert Storm, the Gulf War and we heard it (1986) when the United Nations said it. But notice friends, what has happened there in New York has changed things. No longer is the world secure…it’s the truth. These terrorist can do a lot of damage and now the whole world is united for the 1st time, they are looking for not only peace but they want security….the Eiffel Tower, House of Commons are now under threat so the cry is “Peace aaand Security” this is the first time such a situation has existed which has galvanized the whole world….”

It sounds to me (from various things I have heard )that it may be an ongoing cry (possibly beginning in 1986 Year of Peace)that gets louder and louder and like labor pains gets closer together and more intense….we’ll have to wait and see. Did anyone catch what Brother Losch said about the cry of “peace and security” on the 1st talk that was posted? Right about the 14 minute mark? He said as to its fulfillment:
We don’t know if this will be be a “thought or desire” of the people or rather if it will be an erroneous statement. We don’t know.” Here’s another good example;
What is a murderer and a prostitute?….. To Jehovah you are those things if you hate your brother and you are a prostitute if:

My point is Jehovah is so deep and if we want to understand deep things we must pray for wisdom and understanding and look beyond the obvious.I think we are all barking up the wrong tree if we expect it to be instantaneous. We may not even recognize it at all until the attack on False Religion…..it will be interesting to see how it all plays out :)

Concerning the coming of “Jehovah’s day,” the apostle Paul explained that it would be when the cry of “Peace and security!” is being proclaimed. Then “sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them (just as) the pang of distress upon a (pregnant woman;) and they will by no means escape.” (1Th 5:2, 3) Labor pains come suddenly, the exact day and hour not being foreknown. The pains first are about 15 to 20 minutes apart, becoming closer together as labor advances. In most cases the time of labor is relatively short, especially in its second stage, but once labor pains begin, the woman knows that a birth is approaching and that the ordeal must be undergone. There is no “escape.”
I would recommend digging into Isaiah’s Prophecy volume 1&2. There are several parallels to the attack on false religion

Political and financial ‘covenants,’ or agreements, designed to protect Christendom’s interests will be violated. (Isaiah 28:15-18) Frantic attempts to stave off destruction by diplomacy will fail. Commercial activities will come to a halt, as Christendom’s properties and investments are confiscated or destroyed. Any who still have friendly feelings toward Christendom will do little more than stand at a safe distance and mourn her passing. How everyone in those cities were put to death, from little boy to old man because they were that corrupt. So it is today today, how there are organziation made up to promote this flithy life stlye, how churches are havens for men that pray on little boys, and how far removed people’s morals are from Jehovah’s standards. These truly are demonic times in which we are living in.

Good afternoon Dennis, I only caught parts of it, but he (obama) said “The nations need to disarm, and get rid their nuclear weapons” (I shorted it, what was actually said). Now here is the interesting thing, after the speech, the security council voted on this proposel. They ALL agreed to disarm and cut their weapons of mass destruction stockpile down in number. Which is interesting, if you recall in 2008, I believe our watchtower of 8/15/08, in one our study articles was saying…”just when they think, they are solving their problems, then sudden destruction is to instantly upon them. Today the optimiusm(sp) is in the “air” of things seems to be getting better. Mr. Obama stated, that the world’s problems must be solved as a group effort, that the usa can not do it alone. Pretty strong words, in view of the fact that Jesus is in the midst of them, so to speak.
Don’t forget to that babylon the great neck’s is on the chopping block already. So things are going to be happening rather quickly. Already so called enlighten democratic nations are showing their disdain for religion.

The ministers at the IBSA (India-Brazil-South Africa) meeting, hosted by Brazil, (reiterated the urgent need for the expansion) of the Security Council in both the permanent and non-permanent categories to increase the participation of developing countries.
Taking note of the progress of the inter-governmental negotiations on the Security Council during the previous session of the General Assembly, the trio stressed the need to reach concrete results in the present session. The three nations support the expansion of the Security Council to make it more representative.

You speak or play the talk into a microphone and it will convert the words to text. There is also a website that sells this software, and I think there is a demo on there, which you can try. It is probably the most popular or most well-known program, called ‘Dragon naturallyspeaking.’ It is on the website — nuance.com
There are different versions that you can buy … for personal use, business use, or educational use, etc. Now, perhaps, someone may be able to do this! All the best to you! I have to go now and prepare for tonight’s meeting.

Um…that’s not the software I used. I used Adobe Premiere to metadata it…But I didn’t pay for Premiere no..I torrented it. Kinda hard to explain what that is… It’s not exactly pirating. It’s downloading the trial and using a serial code.
Dennis, did you realize today 9/21/09 the united nations is celebrating what they called “the day of peace”, and how the united nations is now saying how the only to ensure peace is by disarming their weapons. Dennis have you saw the increase in earthquakes recents? The raise of dieasess, swine flu, aids, cancer, tb, ect. Have you witness the seer viciousness of news reports of people being murdered,just because it was something to do. Or the little girl who was repeatedly raped and held captive for 18 years and made to bear 2 children by her captive? The wars have increase steady since 1914. Have you seen how religion has preverted the word of Jehovah, even daring to remove HIS from his bible? Have seen how the catholic church have adopted the teaching of the demons, in forbidding men marrying, which leads to priest molesting little boys under their spiritual care. Have you seen how the greed of men has caused the econimic turmoil today. The seer carelessness of people like bernie madoff who stole 50 billion dollars and thought nothing of it? Or how eron, worldcom, tyco allowed their employees’ pensions to be raided and used up for selfish gains. These are just a few examples happening right now.
But there is another danger facing us as Jehovah’s people….that is the fact that satan wants us to get discourge, and lose sight of where we are at. We just ran a 26 mile marathon, we are at the .5 marker, the finish line is just ahead. Dennis can you see the new system just over the horizon? Don’t give up now, we are almost there.

“Particularly since 1986, when an International Year of Peace was declared by the United Nations, the world has been full of talk about peace and security. Definite steps have been taken in an effort to secure world peace, apparently with a measure of success. Is this the entire fulfillment of this prophecy, or can we expect a future startling announcement of some sort? Jehovah will clarify that matter in his due time. Meanwhile, let us stay spiritually awake, “awaiting and keeping close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah.” (2 Peter 3:12) As time continues to pass with still more talk of peace and security, some individuals who know of this warning, but who choose to ignore it, may become more defiant in assuming that Jehovah will not, or cannot, fulfill his word. I don’t know anything about computer programming, JWN. The only thing that comes to my mind is for someone to listen to it, and type it up in Wordperfect. (A monumental task!) I took Notes on the talk when I listened to it. They are not ‘perfect’ notes by any means. (I didn’t even type them in Wordperfect! I used Open Office! Hehehe!) Most of my notes can be found “scattered” across your website. (LOL) There’s only about a couple of more pages that I didn’t mention (those regarding the resurrection.) Also, JWN, I found this from the May 1st 1999 WATCHTOWER. (Notice: 1999 … which is 9 years after 1990).
. Is some clarification in order regarding ‘the disgusting thing standing in a holy place’? Apparently so. Jesus’ prophecy closely links the “standing in a holy place” with the outbreak of the foretold “tribulation.” Hence, even though “the disgusting thing” has long existed, the link between its “standing in a holy place” and the great tribulation should affect our thinking. How so?
10 God’s people once understood that the first phase of the great tribulation began in 1914 and that the final part would come at the battle of Armageddon. (Revelation 16:14, 16; compare The Watchtower, April 1, 1939, page 110.) So we can understand why it was once thought that the latter-day “disgusting thing” must have stood in a holy place soon after World War I.
11 However, in later years we have come to see things differently. On Thursday, July 10, 1969, at the “Peace on Earth” International Assembly in New York City, F. W. Franz, then vice president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, gave an electrifying talk. In reviewing the previous understanding of Jesus’ prophecy, Brother Franz said: “The explanation was given that the ‘great tribulation’ had begun in 1914 C.E. and that it was not allowed to run its full course then but God stopped World War I in November of 1918. From then on God was allowing an interval for the activity of his anointed remnant of elect Christians before he let the final part of the ‘great tribulation’ resume at the battle of Armageddon.”
12 Then a significantly adjusted explanation was offered: “To correspond with the events of the first century, . . . the antitypical ‘great tribulation’ did not begin in 1914 C.E. Rather, what took place upon Jerusalem’s modern antitype in 1914-1918 was merely ‘a beginning of pangs of distress’ . . . The ‘great tribulation’ such as will not occur again is yet ahead, for it means the destruction of the world empire of false religion (including Christendom) followed by the ‘war of the great day of God the Almighty’ at Armageddon.” This meant that the entire great tribulation was yet ahead.
13 This has a direct bearing on discerning when “the disgusting thing” stands in a holy place. Recall what happened in the first century. The Romans attacked Jerusalem in 66 C.E., but they abruptly withdrew, which allowed Christian “flesh” to be saved. (Matthew 24:22) Accordingly, we expect the great tribulation to begin soon, but it will be cut short for the sake of God’s chosen ones. Note this key point: In the ancient pattern, ‘the disgusting thing standing in a holy place’ was linked to the Roman attack under General Gallus in 66 C.E. The modern-day parallel to that attack—the outbreak of the great tribulation—is still ahead. So “the disgusting thing that causes desolation,” which has existed since 1919, apparently is yet to stand in a holy place. How will this happen? And how can we be affected?
A Future Attack
14 The book of Revelation describes a future destructive attack on false religion. Chapter 17 outlines God’s judgment against “Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots”—the world empire of false religion. Christendom plays a central part and claims to have a covenant relationship with God. (Compare Jeremiah 7:4.) The false religions, including Christendom, have long had illicit dealings with “the kings of the earth,” but this will end in the desolation of those religions. (Revelation 17:2, 5) At whose hands?
15 Revelation depicts “a scarlet-colored wild beast” that exists for a time, disappears, and then returns. (Revelation 17:3, 8) This beast is supported by world rulers. Details supplied in the prophecy help us to identify this symbolic beast as a peace organization that came into existence in 1919 as the League of Nations (a “disgusting thing”) and that is now the United Nations. Revelation 17:16, 17 shows that God will yet put it into the hearts of certain human rulers who are prominent in this “beast” to desolate the world empire of false religion. That attack marks the outbreak of the great tribulation.
16 Since the start of the great tribulation is yet future, is the “standing in a holy place” still ahead of us? Evidently so. While “the disgusting thing” made its appearance early in this century and has, thus, existed for decades, it will take a position in a unique way “in a holy place” in the near future. As first-century followers of Christ must have keenly watched to see how the “standing in a holy place” would develop, so do present-day Christians. Admittedly, we will have to wait for the actual fulfillment to know all the details. Yet, it is noteworthy that in some lands there is already a detectable and growing antipathy toward religion. Some political elements, in league with former Christians who have deviated from the true faith, are promoting hostility against religion in general and true Christians in particular. (Psalm 94:20, 21; 1 Timothy 6:20, 21) Consequently, political powers even now “battle with the Lamb,” and as Revelation 17:14 indicates, this fight will intensify. While they cannot literally get their hands on the Lamb of God—Jesus Christ in his exalted, glorified state—they will further vent their opposition against God’s true worshipers, his “holy ones” in particular. (Daniel 7:25; compare Romans 8:27; Colossians 1:2; Revelation 12:17.) We have divine assurance that the Lamb and those with him will be victorious.—Revelation 19:11-21.
17 We know that desolation awaits false religion. Babylon the Great is “drunk with the blood of the holy ones” and has acted as a queen, but her destruction is certain. The unclean influence she has wielded over the kings of the earth will dramatically change as that relationship turns into one of violent hatred on the part of the ‘ten horns and the wild beast.’ (Revelation 17:6, 16; 18:7, 8) When the “scarlet-colored wild beast” attacks the religious harlot, “the disgusting thing” will be standing in a menacing way in Christendom’s so-called holy place.
So desolation will begin on faithless Christendom, which portrays itself as holy.

In the ancient pattern, ‘the disgusting thing standing in a holy place’ was linked to the Roman attack under General Gallus in 66 C.E. The modern-day parallel to that attack—the outbreak of the “great tribulation”—is still ahead. (Matthew 24:21) So “the disgusting thing that causes desolation” is yet to stand in a holy place.—5/1, pages 16, 17.
As you can imagine, I am already well aware of current doctrine.
The statement about the U.N. in Saudi Arabia is true. They ARE “the disgusting thing”, and because of Mecca, & Medina, Saudi Arabia IS considered to be “a” holy place. It was stated ONLY to go along with the very plausible question from the Faithful Slave of weather or not the cry of peace and security began in 1986, & the destruction was instantly upon them from that time onward…in light of Paul’s words i.e.”like the pangs of distress upon a pregnant woman”, I added a scenario where you could also plausibly say that even the U.N. was standing in a holy place as far back as 1990.

Good morning Sandra, I recently came across an article, on the watchtower libary cd, it mention the digusting thing standing in a holy place, it clarified how it was referring to the false religions so called holy place in our time period. In 2006 October 15- November 16, we delievered a hail like message telling people, that their religion is false and is about to face a judical decesion from GOD himself.Can you just imagine, the confusion this caused those loyal ones to this harlot? How some may have wanted to jump ship and leave but what did satan do or cause? He provided a dulling pain reliever, He distracted people from this painfull message from Jehovah. This distraction came from the polictical empire of satan’s oraganzation. I only mention this current usa president because if you notice after our campaign, the president of this country came on into the spotlight. He served as a distraction to the people.
